Thomas Myron Doughty

Thomas Myron Doughty Jr. passed away December 22, 2016 in Riverside, California at the age of 80. Tom was born at Fort Monroe, Virginia to Margaret Parker Doughty and Thomas Myron Doughty. Tom moved to California in 1962 to work for North American Rockwell, which is now Boeing. Tom enjoyed many hobbies including: visiting the Chesapeake Bay, playing board games, and reading.Tom was a proud graduate of University of Virginia Engineering School. Tom dedicated 54 years to his passion, electrical engineering, and was admired and well known throughout the country and world for his work on the B-1B. Tom was married to his wonderful wife Gretchen Niehaus Doughty for 32 years. Tom enjoyed spending time with his children: Beth Hilton, Sonja Stewart, Marilyn Levin, and Sarah Doughty. Tom was preceded in death by his son, Michael Christopher Doughty. Tom is also survived by his brother Michael Doughty, as well as 3 grandchildren: Robert Doughty, Jennifer Morgan, Joseph Morgan, and 4 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Garrett, Zachary, and Madeline. Toms life will be celebrated in a private memorial for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the: University of Virginia Engineering Foundation, P.O. Box 400256, Charlottesville, VA 22904, are gratefully appreciated.
