Timothy Albert Gelatka, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother has played his final round of golf. Complications related to treatment for his leukemia took him home on July 19, 2018. Tim was born on May 4, 1946 to John Gelatka and Zita Von Becker in Cleveland, Ohio. He married his high school classmate, Candice Ann Hoffer on February 28, 1968 and together they had four children. He became a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1976 and was always the first to volunteer when service was needed. In 1977, he moved his family to Southern California and started his own business, South Coast Sanitary Supply which he operated for 40+ years and then later went to work with two of his sons, Tom and Todd at Fischer Painting, working full time right up until he passed. His first wife, Candice, passed away in 1998. In 2001 he met and married Vanette Widdison. Tim was an avid golfer who learned to play at the age of 11 and was playing 2 rounds per week for the last 6+ years. Golf was his true passion in life. Tim is preceeded in death by his parents and first wife. He is survived by his brother John, his sister, Zita "Sam", his children, Jonanne (Bill Brown), Tim Jr. (Veronica), Tom (Marissa) and Todd (Erin), his step-daughter, Jerica and 9 grandchildren. There are also many others who called Tim "dad" because of his loving and accepting nature. He is loved and will be missed by so many. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange for their exceptional care and treatment of Tim in his last few weeks here with us.
