Vern Dale Stocking, 92, currently of Rexburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, June 3, 2019, at his granddaughters home. His family is happy that he is now reunited with his wife and family. He was born March 3, 1927, to Burdette and Mary Stocking in Hayburn, Idaho. In 1942, they moved to View in Cassia County where he graduated from Burley High. After joining the Navy in May of 1945 he was honorably discharged in August of 1946. He went to Idaho State College Trade and Industrial School and completed Auto Mechanics and Welding courses. He served a mission in Hawaii for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1950-1952. He met his wife, Marcy, in California while working and married in the Los Angles Temple on November 16, 1956. They returned to Idaho and welcomed three beautiful girls, they moved back to California in 1963 and raised his family in Van Nuys. He was called as a Seventies Group Leader and then president of the 419 Quorum of the Seventies in 1969. They moved to Palmdale, California in 1993 and spent time traveling together. His dear wife passed away in April of 2009. He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and loved serving in the church. He moved to Rexburg in 2015 and was happy to be back in Idaho, close to siblings and family. He is survived by his children; Glady Sue Hovis of Sealy, Texas, Patty (Walter) Lowe of Arlington, Texas, Karen (Steve) Peacock of Rexburg, Idaho as well as 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers; Doyle (Carol) Stocking of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Earl Stocking of Buhl, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents; Burdette and Mary, his wife, Marcia, and siblings; Aileen, Lamoyne, J.A., Utahna and Winona and a grandson, Carter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8th at Flamm Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Riverside National Cemetery in California
